This was a commercial shoot back in spring.
There are six 30 sec spots at the link below.
I would love feedback :bigear:

They look very pretty, unfortunately, there's a bit of a discrepancy with the frame rate in Vimeo and the video jumps a lot, taking away from the fluidity of it. Other than that, and this is very subjective, I feel a lack of texture or depth in the images. They are very well shot and focus is perfect, but I can tell there is no sharpening at all anywhere in these clips. Low sharpening, specially in the RED, produces nice, but somewhat "flat" images that seem to be lacking in tri-dimensionality. I fix this by adding the tiniest amount of grain (yep, grain) and images immediately become deeper and more pleasing to the eye. But then again, that's just me...

Rudi- thanks for your feedback- this is exactly what I was hoping for.
You have a great eye- I have not yet done any sharpening (...yet)- I was waiting to see what people might say to a more soft look. I am interested in your comment about adding grain. Do you have any examples that I might see this in?
And yes, you are right, we shot in 25FPS for Europe, but Vimeo didn't like that- so I dropped it down to 24FPS which seems to be causing some problems. I am going to try to fix that today.

Raul,

I don't have any RED footage with me right now, whatever I was working on is finished and I sent the drives away. But if you want, send me a few TIFF frames from these clips, or better yet, a small R3D and I'll do some of my graining technique on them and send them back to you, just to show how it would like on your particular footage.

Good shooting,

Wow, a bit of 'purple sun' at 1:36:tongue_smilie: Seriously, was anything done in post to hold those highlights from clipping? I've gone 6 stops but that looks like way more. Nice work!

I thought I got them all, haha-
we did shoot everything exposed just the way we wanted (or close to it).
We knew we would be clipping here and there and decided that it worked for our look.
I don't think there be too many other times I can get away with it.

Rudi- just PM'ed you

Thanks Ketch! btw- I am digging your new avatar 8) You probably recognize the little robot arm in mine.... yes, that,s a R0551 model, heh heh.

Hehe, and thank you, not finished yet, but is an on going project, the more I learn the software the more I refine it, till it will be ready to print!

Yes definitely recognized the robotic arm that you used in creating the motion for KETCHFRAME, totally dig it!

Will be refining tuning the animation shortly, adding some Color grading, and speed slow motion effect to them, also the final logo implementation will be added.

ciao
