Selects from a project I shot showcasing the BEAUTIFUL flaring abilities of the Zeiss Super Speeds.

Camera: Red Epic
Lenses: Zeiss Super Speeds MKI

Got some bad barrel distortion there. Sorry man but not digging the flares either. Matter of fact its probably because of the small FOV of the lens. you can see the literal curve of the lens flare, not my preferred.

To each his own! Thanks for the feedback!

Some nasty vignetting too - not sure I would show that unless someone specifically asked for flares, and if so shoot at a resolution the lens covered - don't think most situations would see the vignetting as a positive.

Which focal length were you using? Just wondering as I am hoping to use some Super speed mk ii on a shoot soon, and wondering about the coverage. Any more details would be appreciated. Thanks.

Footage was shot with a full set of Zeiss Super Speeds MKI (18,25,35,50,85) at 5K WS. The vignette was from the mattebox, not the lenses inability to cover the sensor.

Thanks Stacy! The flares are identifiable, but unique and cool nonetheless.

Not a technique for every project, but worked cool with this particular location.

Thanks Daniel!

My sentiment exactly!

Absolutely Josef! Very low-key shoot, in which we decided to take advantage of the morning sun, natural fog, and the bikers availability.
