  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Beautiful Ads

Agreed,

I saw this a few days ago and thought it was very, very beautiful. Although, I didn't like thinking it was a part of the Amélie world, becasue then Amélie would be cheating on Nino!

I saw an advert the other day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWF9MouSMEQ

I don't know why, but I really like that one. I like the sound design the most, and I think the images (besides the slow motion) are really great.

The Phantom 'advert' was a test shoot essentially and was shot in a documentary style. It is captured in natural light and details what happened on the boat in the time given. The images are good and the angles well chosen, but for me the interest is in watching the slow motion action which is very suited to elevating the fluid motion of water to almost an art form. The Phantom is excellent at this stretching moments in time and allowing us to ponder over an action which is usually too quick to be recognised and appreciated fully.

The Chanel No 5 commercial is wholly constructed and for me is therefore the result of far more decisions and hard work. Being artifice it has to be created from product to script to realisation.

Both are very good but for me Chanel is more accomplished. OK and I prefer watching Ms Tatou. There I said it!

Haha! Jeunet's Chanel advert is by far more polished/accomplished, I completely agree. I just picked up that other advert in the Phantom thread a while ago, and thought the whole thing was really great. I agree on the slow motion, but I also like the sound design, especially at the start. It gives it a haunting melancholy feel.

Holy crap, that Louis Vuitton ad is simply stunning! What kind of lenses are those? It's not a Lensbaby or a tilt shift, its something else. Anyone have any idea, I would love this look for my next project.

To me it looks like Vaseline smeared onto a plain UV Filter in front of the lense. For each frame individually he controlled the effect by painting with his Finger.

It's split diopters or other objects like a simple ruler that diffracts in front of slightly longer lenses.
