i am a user in china
3weeks before,we went to an island with red cam
the local humidity is very high.
and temperature difference between day and night is very lagre.
when we worked to midnight, there is lot of water on the surface of everything.
after several nights the adapter broke down.
There were holes for heat extraction. when the adpater stopped working ,cold wet air will leave lot of water on the circuit board. if now the adpater is turned on, the board will be damaged.

so i want to Remind red friends to be careful about the adpater in wet weather. my english is not very good,so....fogive my awkward expression pls

best reguards

Hi Zhiyong,

Welcome to reduser and your English is much better than my Chinese. :)

I'm not sure what you mean by the "adapter." Do you mean the AC power adapter?

Hi Michael

it's right. there several heat extration holes under the handle of ac power adpater through which the cold wet air entered.

when power off, water will come to the surface of circuit board.
if we turn it on at that time, the water may short the circuit
or destory some Diode which will cause red down frequently when it is shooting.

This is not the "AC power adapter". You're talking about the RED charger.

Please read the safety instructions that came with the charger:
"Protect the equipment from humid environments. [...] Do not use if any liquid has been accidentally spilled inside the equipment."

So the charger should not be used in the kind of environments you described...
