  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Baz Luhrmann from the set of " The Great Gatsby "

Couldn't have two better people in Steve and Brook supporting. You guys rock.

Can't wait to see this at the cinema.

His 2D films always seem to have an extra visual dimension added to them.. now that he actually has an extra dimension to work with, look out... :)

What I look forward to in this film is how he will use Red Raw to the fullest. I'm sure the 3D will be great, but Baz plays around with color, lighting, set design in such a way that I feel if there's a director that will push the Red cameras to the max, that person should be Baz. When I saw Moulin Rouge for the first time, I have to admit, it was the first time I saw a film and thought to myself " I can't do that, that's just too f%cking brilliant".

Jarred that must have been incredible to receive. Congratulations.

I tried my best to get on the production crew of the Great Gatsby. I did an internship in Fox Studios Sydney last year and with all the connections I made, no such luck. Would have been incredible to be on the inside of this one! One day.

I wouldn't take it personally Josef... I know there was a bunch of politics to hires and I imagine they had a million and one crew members all hit them up for a job down there. Heck... Brook and Steve are at the very, very top of the game and it wasn't exactly a walk in the park for even them to get on the production.

Thanks Jarred, that's just the way it goes sometimes I guess!.. But not even close to giving up yet.

I said it awhile ago.. but I can't tell you how incredible it is to watch Baz work... his Vision is remarkable..

We are incredibly proud to have him on the team.

What Jarred said. To watch him work is truly inspiring. The Great Gatsby is going to be a very special cinematic treat.

Baz Luhrmann dropped me a note tonight from Australia on the set of The Great Gatsby that he wanted to share with you all :

I guess you could say I am now a member of the RED army.

It is true that the revolution started some time ago, and I was late coming to digital, through the door of 3D. But nothing could have prepared me for how tremendous not only the visual results have been on the RED, but also how free of any technical hold-up our creative journey has been.

Of course, I have a bit of a thing for big ideas and strong vision myself, and it is clear to me that these are at the heart of all things RED.

That it, right there! RED - You ROCK the world!! ;)

Wow, what a wonderful quote!

Congratulations to all involved!

All the best,

The great Baz,The Great Gatsby, and the great Epic:
I expect this will be a very different kind of beauty than the type of beauty created in Contagion. Polar opposites would be my guess; and one more nod to the many complexions of aesthetics.

Love it!!

Can you get any authorized BTS from set with the Epic in it? We dont need to see any celebs, so a more "mundane" bts would be just fine

Yeah, don't give up Josef. This industry has a strange way of working. You just need to get in on the ground level and let people know what you can do. Be someone that is enjoyable to work with, and have lots of problem solving skills and you will be fine. Politics is certainly an obstacle at times, but also can help you at times too. :-)

I must have missed this thread... But glad to have stumbled over it.

Baz is a crazy MAD man... if you can please him, you have won me... but hey, you already had won me. :)

Great work again Jarred.
