How soon can we expect Battle Tested RedOne / MX in the Red Store and what might be its price?

1. Maybe early next year, after they've taken a good number of Stage 3 trade-ins - but no-one really knows what they have planned for these cameras; nothing official has been announced.

2. Your guess is as good as mine.

I have to admit that I'm pretty interested to hear some official word on what is going to happen to the Stage 3 RED One cameras. As an educational institution, we are always interested in both saving money and acquiring quality equipment that will stand up well to student use. Although we do plan to purchase Epics at some point, in the meantime factory-refurbished R1MX cameras at a reasonable price would be very attractive to us.

Interesting!
Just wondering if the Red Ones from the Red Store would have some warranty too, apart from the guaranteed condition of the camera.

They'll have to be a cheaper than the Epic-S, since as currently announced the Epic-S out-specs the R1 significantly. So maybe around $10K?

with the price increase of red epic anounced from 28,500 to around 35+, one can only assume that Epic-S will also increase though this has not been announced yet. But they do share the same body and sensor so if Epic-S also increases by 7k to around 20k that means Red MX should hold its value pretty well.

Aye, but remember RED don't care if the camera is M or MX; they still take it for trade-in just the same. There are still quite a few non-MX cameras floating around that never got upgraded, and won't be now, with EPIC imminent. Ours, for instance!

They'll either move them on dead cheap, or upgrade them to MX before selling them. Your guess is as good as mine; until something official comes out this is bootless speculation.

I, too, was kind of anticipating an ~$7500 price tag for Battle-tested MXs, as that would imply that Epic-S would still be $12-13Gs as previously suggested. Of course that would bottom out the R1mx market.... If it were just going from 4k to 5k, I doubt most people would be willing to pay the difference (~$7500 to 12Gs), however, HDRx and formfactor, for the vast majority of users, is well worth the $5Gs extra.

How much are the battletested lenses reduced by? 50%? If so, that'd probably be a fair estimate in the meantime. Either way, HDRx is worth so much... With that much latitude and that low of a noise floor, your lighting kit can be reduced heavily (you can boost the ISO heavily as you'll still have 6 stops of highlight retention over what you see on the monitor.) That's pretty spicy, and when that tech is available inexpensively ($12-13Gs) it will make the R1 much less lucrative, regardless of it's 4k still being relevant.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are recycled. RED has never said what they will do with the trade in cameras. What happened to all the M sensors that were traded in? Probably recycled, or otherwise destroyed.
