My name is Pierre, working at bebob, Munich germany

We are starting a new line of accessories for red, under the brand redline

First product is an electronic hot swap adapter that allows to swap the battery of the camera without switching it off. It gives you a two minutes alarm before the battery is definitively empty, as well with batteries supporting the red capacity display protocoll as with batteries that doesn´t. Additional weight on the camera is about 300g

name of the product is ML-120. You will find more details and a small video under http://www.theredline.tv

The ML-120 is available from today, direct from bebob for 399€ (about 550 USD)

don´t hesitate to contact me for more details

Greetings,

Pierre

welcome to Reduser Pierre

Does the device pass battery status information from a RED battery to the camera viewfinder?

Interesting...I was considering the Action Products swap pack, but I really like what I see here....the flashing LEDs are a nice touch.

Always nice to see additional toys! great product.

This is the best tool since ET Mantis. We had several pieces on different shootings and ordered 15 pieces. Looks nice when they are blinking.it is not nice to have - it is must have

Hi Pierre, your product does indeed sound great - just a word of warning with your company name though, I seem to remember a while ago Red warning people off using the word "Red" in their company name (also I don't know if Red have registered it but there's already something called "Redline" which is a kind of command line application - not exactly the same area as your operations but it might help you to avoid some grief in the future....nothing worse than building up a client base and then having to change your name!

I found the original thread...[warning: it's quite exhaustive - I don't know if Red are still persisting with protecting their name after all that]:

Good luck with the products :cheers2:

Hello David,

many thanks for this information! I contacted red this morning, and we will change the brand to avoid any confusion. I will change as well my account number to respect the real name policy.

Thanks again!
Pierre

Pierre, What puzzles me with hot-swappable battery plates is that nobody takes sides on what is the effect of the plate back to the battery. We all know that charges are smart; they recognize the charge status of the battery and carefully adjust the charging current accordingly. Not doing this will shorten the lifetime of the batteries significantly or in the worst case generate a risk of damage. So my technical question to you is, do you prevent the plate from charging the RED battery? Thanks

you´re right, an uncontrolled charge of the battery would shorten lifetime of the battery or eventually even definitely damage it. The ML-120 is built so that current can only draw from the battery in the ML-120 (and from there to the camera), but not in the reverse direction. This makes only a discharge of the battery possible and a charge unpossible. So no risks for the battery!

Hi all,

to respect reduser´s Real Name policy, and to avoid interferring with eventual RED trademarks, I changed my account from redline to Pierre boudard. our homepag fro red accessories is now:

Sorry for the Mess,

The biggest problem with Red

The biggest problem with Red

...is that every time you make a purchase, somebody comes out with an even better product. The Redline makes so much sense I can't believe nobody thought of it earlier. Gets my vote, if not my $$ 'cause it's just too late. Damn!
