I have a problem with my power read out in my RED Scarlet.
I use swit 190 for RED battery's. And the VLOCK Quick back from Wooden Camera.

The first time i used these battery's my camera was indicating TIME:yesnod:. But now my camera only indicates Volts with all my battery's:cry:.
Its very frustrating because i already had a pair of SWIT Battery's with the same problem and i have trade these for new ones.

I think it could be something with the software of the SWIT Battery's. Or maybe the Quick back from Wooden camera?

Anyone the same problem?

It's very likely the battery plate from Switronix. I had the exact same issue for months, and after chasing the issue down with RED (we all thought it was a battery problem) a quick trip of the battery plate back to Switronix service and it was fixed in a jiffy. Something about moving a magnet trigger. Talk to Vinny, he will make sure you get taken care of.
Good luck

Harry

I am having the same problem and my set up is a bit different:
1) RED Scarlet
2) ViewFactor APU-IDX Battery Plate
3) Switronix XP-LP95RED

I just got the battery today and when I tested on the set-up described above, I am only getting Volt reading not percentage - From the product statement, I should be getting % instead.

So I am asking for advice on where to look first:
A) Is the battery?
B) Is it the plate
C) Could it be tagger in anyway to the RED firmware (doubt it) 4.0.x

Martij when the batteries were working, what firmware did you have in your Scarlet, and when they did nor work - were you using 4.0.x

Hi Dennys and Harry,

I think its the SWIT Battery's. I have tried the RED Battery's on my switronix plate and it works fine. So i went back to my SWIT Battery supplier and they are contacting SWIT again. But its Chinese New Year so we have to wait a few days .
Harry , i have been emailing with switronix about the moving magnet thing, but there is no magnet trigger in my switronix plate. Thanks for your suggestion.

dennys , i still use firmware 3.3.15.

I let you guys know when i hear something from SWIT.

Have a nice Chinese New year!

Yes, That is what I think is going on the Swit Batt. I am glad you had the Red Brick as that was the best way to diagnose the plate. I will also contact them to notify them of my case and will let them know I have heard of a second source (won't mention name) with similar problem.

Worth checking the cabling from plate to lemo is OK, we had a third party plate that had a shot between pin 6 and pin 2 ie one of the small pins to earth. Was a hair wire in the lemo connector. It also affected the camera not being able to replay and other odd issues completely unrelated to battery or power.

Thanks Info Dave,

That said Martij stated that when he hooks the REd brick battery to the same plate, everything works fine (% reading). If the plate is fully functional with the RED brick - it should also work with the Switronix XP-LP95RED

Martij, Just want to let you know that in my case it was the case that the Viewfactor plate does not transmit digital info to the RED camera - so only voltage is shown on the LCD. Hoping your situation is resolved.

Can anyone confirm that the Red Swit batteries work with the V-mount plate belt from Red and show % or time ?

Thanks,

Kristin

I had the same problem with a Switronix battery plate and Global Media Pro batteries.

To fix it: open the battery plate and at the back (inside) you will find a small round magnet attached with glue. Mine was somewhat in the top corner. After messing around a bit I found a spot that worked with all batteries.

I think the problem is that the magnet is a bit small, it is certainly smaller then the one in the Red battery plates. I mentioned this to the supplier (the one whose name we can't mention...) and got a reply from a Switronix guy who blamed the battery manufacturers for not putting the reed switches in exact the same position.

Anyway, mine works again.
