  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Battery / Charger alternative

The 150's don't work for some reason. I've got some very similar 190s that work fine. I don't think B4B sells those yet. My IDX 70 off my HD-100 runs RED also. Guess you just need to test each battery before buying if possible.

Hi, I am curious about batteries
Are you using the Pro-X 190 ? Digital ion or.. ? where do you buy it ?
and when you use IDX 70, how long does it last (with LCD or EVF ?) 30 minutes ? do you record on card or disk ?
For hand held, as it is half the weight of RED battery, it is really tempting !

RED batteries are lithium ion so they are already as small as you're going to get for the power they put out as far as I know. Similar to IDX. My 150's are about RED sized, the 190's are 25% bigger. The little IDX 70 is half the thickness of the 150. I haven't really tested the times - but I'd say 2+ hours on the 190s. They seem to last quite a while.

They look identical to B4B batteries... which look identical to Cavision batteries. The build is great, that have P-Tap and another little connector so you can charge them from a wall adapter. They don't transmit battery info to the camera.

A friend of mine sells video gear and wanted to test some Chinese imports so I told him I'd take a few. (basically you can't buy the 190 anywhere yet to my knowledge)

My understanding with the B4B 150 batteries is that they are simply providing too much power to the RED. It seemed like someone else said that if you are using the dual mount adapter then one of the 150's would work (basically there was some kind of limiter built in) Can anyone confirm this? It would be great because you can buy cheaper batteries and you won't have to shut the camera down every 100 minutes.

Yeah, I should probably buy that adapter. Wouldn't be bad to be able to hot swap between two batteries for continuous recording.
