Hey Guys,

Can you give me suggestions on what batteries to buy? The only requirement is I need them to be FAA approved. Thank you in advance.

You can take up to (3) 100-160w/h batteries on an airplane provided one is mounted on the camera, and an unlimited amount under 100w/h. I travel extensively both within the USA and worldwide, and never ran into any issues. Most TSA officers don't really know the rules. Yea, the batteries will typically get bomb swabbed, but other than that, they don't even really inspect them.

However this does not absolve you of following the rules. Be advised, if you get caught trying to put batts in checked baggage, you could be looking at $20k + in FAA fines.

Hey Nick, would that matter if you have one battery on the camera and the other two protected in your carry-on?

I always follow the rules...I was just stating a fact that most TSA officers don't even check the capacities...they just swab and move on.

Hello James.

I´ve been using IDX DUO-C95 93Wh with good results. Getting voltage readout in camera as well.

Hey Nick, what kind of batteries do you have?

I use an unbranded chinese batteries with Japanese cells. I used to have a ton of Anton Bauer batteries that ran everything from cameras, to monitors, to steadicam, but I was unhappy with their longevity related to price, so I switched to these. I have about 20 of them, and am only now rotating out my oldest ones which date back to the Red One.

They are the best batts I have worked with price to performance wise. They come in V mount and several different capacities -

Just to throw in my two cents.... These are my favorite batteries that I use on my Epic-W:

PAG PAGlink PL96e - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...MI_5Lt3cDJ2QIVQ16GCh2fTARtEAAYAiAAEgKkgPD_BwE
Core SWX HyperCore HC9 Mini V-Mount - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1333715-REG/core_swx_hcm_9r_6_6ah_v_mount_hi_draw.html
BLUESHAPE GRANITE MINI V-Mount - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...v140hdmini_two_v_lock_li_mn_mini_battery.html
RED DIGITAL CINEMA REDVOLT-V - https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1352369-REG/red_digital_cinema_740_0043_redvolt_v.html

And as a back up/travel charger I love the PAG PAGlink Micro Charger- https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...MIk_nQ_sDJ2QIV0VuGCh1dpQIpEAQYASABEgJIfPD_BwE

I hope this helps... these are not the cheapest batteries, but they are fantastic!

Anyone know of any inexpensive ~95wh Chinese "mini" batteries? Looking for something like those Blueshape Granite minis (which look to fit perfectly on the back of DSMC2) or SWX HyperCore Minis, but closer to ~$200 instead of ~$500?

Seems like an simple thing to do; instead of making v-mounts thin/tall, make em short/thick.
