Hi all,

I'm looking for a solution to power/charge a MacBook Pro with a V-mount battery. I use PagLinks, but they don't have any USB-C ports. Maybe somekind of V-mount adapter? Any ideas?
Buying a new battery with built-in USB-C (in/out) port is always a solution. But, for example, although SmallRig VB-99 have it, a big question is: will these batteries communicate with RED DSMC2 so we can see the battery's capacity/remaining time in the monitor?

SmallRig is also releasing the PRO version if those batteries, but the question of battery's information on the RED's monitor remains.

SWIT it's also a possibility and they say that their batteries will pass capacity/time information to RED (and Sony) cameras (and they have higher capacity versions).

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I just went thru the painful (well, expensive), process of switching all my v-lock batteries to USB-PD chargeable versions (no more bulky chargers! whoo!!!). The IDX Micro series batteries have a D-tap and a USB on the top and communicate with the K-X full % and voltage info unlike the SmallRigs. The 98Wh and 150Wh should push enough juice to power a MacBook, but I know the 50Wh will only do 30W output thru the usb-c. The IDX batteries are super reliable, RED certified, and get the job done. I think the 98Wh is best bang for buck and best size/weight (e.g. it's not 2x the size of the 50, but has twice the juice).

IDX was running a "buy one, get a free PD capable wall charger" deal all thru the holidays that I capitalized on, so I ended up with 6 single channel 60W rapid chargers which is nice. Honestly though, a cheaper Anker brand multi-port USB PD charger would cut down on number of plugs. IDX stuff isn't the cheapest, but definitely isn't the most expensive. I'm a fan.
