  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Baseplate and Shoulder Mount

Yes. I am using the Tilta. It required a small amount of modification, but nothing too difficult (drilling out some holes and adding a filler piece to level the camera. It mounts very solidly to the Sony tripod plate.

Can you show some photos of the mods? That would be great.

Yes, If possible also would like to see how you did those modifications...

I had to remove the sliding base plate designed for DSLR mainly (that was easy - just a couple bolts) Then I had to drill out a couple of the holes in the base of the Tilta to accommodate one 1/4 -20 and one 3/8 bolt into the bottom of the R1.
There is a small raised shelf in the back of the Tilta so I had to make a filler piece to level out the whole thing. (that is the white plastic part - I might get a machine shop to make one out of aluminum some day)
Sorry for the poor quality iPhone photos. *Also, just so you know, I replaced the foam shoulder pad with a much softer one that I had laying around from an old broadcast camera. The Tilta one was usable, but kind of hard and uncomfortable.

Here is another photo that shows a little better how the plastic filler piece levels out the camera on top of the Tilta.

Thanks Chris,

The tilta looks very well adapted, the only problem I see is that the rods arevery low, so to adapt a folow focus and a mattebox will not be easy...
