Base Expander as it is now

So im still trying to wrap my head around something.. If the price of the base expander as it lives today is $1750.. how much more will the base expander + vlock cost.. and is that worth it for my raven package? reason i ask this is i have a few V-mount options i could use already with a simple lemo port like the one that already lives on the current base expander. like i guess my question is this new "v-lock base expander" making my package more expensive? could i somehow get the current base expander + another card or + a lemo adapter kit? sorry for the confusion, I'm starting to obsess about this camera now ><

Honestly the biggest problem i have is SDI , if only they would put that onto the jetpack or something heh..

I am also wondering this. I am also wondering (however unlikely) of a possible RED Base IO with an Anton/Bauer mount. Jarred had mentioned that there are some more tasty bits coming out soon so I'll just be patient until they reveal what's up their sleeves.

Otherwise, I may go brain only and then grab the normal base IO and get a REDVolt XL pack or an OMOD AB plate or something...

EDIT: Or go with a V-mount to AB adapter... (not ideal, but possible)

Jarred said that it would be just under $2k. So probably around $200 more than the standard base I/O, which seems like a steal for the added v-mount (of course at the expense of reduced modularity).

Yep I'm also waiting to see the price tag for the bse I/O v-lock expander.
Especially since saw the DSMC2 universal handle in another post today and have to say it's probably the last handle I would want on my camera.. I'd rather buy the bits and peaces I need seperatly if that's not goign to cost me a lot more.
Still, everyone is talking about reduced modularity with this module. Is it conformed, that it has to be attached to the brain directly?
As far as my knowledge goes you could put any other DSMC2 module in between the brain and the base I/O v-lock adapter

If anyone has solid information about this please share it with us, since this might change a few peoples buying decisions..

EDIT:
just calculated the price for buying the bits and pieces seperately (but no top handle) and you'd spend 300$ more that way compared with buying the Raven Base I/O Package (which contains a top handle)
Assuming the base I/O v-lock expander's price tag will be 2000$

120GB mini mag: $850
DSMC2 Universal handle: maybe use same price as the currant handle, $150
Base I/O V-Lock Expander: you guys say 2 grand? $2000

this comes to: $10,400

so yah hmm either the new base I/O is a lot more expensive than you guys think, or the Handle is more than I think, or it does sound like a few other package options would be nice to hear about! in fairness I think they did say it would save enough to take a loved one "out to a nice dinner"

240GB Mini MAG: $1,400
Base I/O expander: $1,700

Equals $10,500...just $100 more

Equals $10,730 slightly higher but very attractive

obviously this is more geared to people who already have power supply accessories already,or plan to look into other possibilities. I have no idea how they decide what packages to offer, and I for one am glad they have them in place. It would be nice to have a few other choices tho for sure!

For me I went with just the brain. I noticed your other post as well, about the lemo adapters. And I factored this cost in when making my decision originally. I will most likely use the 5" touch, so I only need one of the adapters at $195 vs ??, more then triple for use with ronin. Also, I saw that the v lock base expander would be under 2k, stated by Brent. 2 128gb cards is 1700 vs 1 256 is 1400, so there's 300 right there I am going to save and bring me down to more of a package deal in my eyes, as well not having to get the full adapter package, saving me 500 or so. Anyways just blabbing if it makes sense, it all does in my head anyways. I have read multiple times about accessories coming in the near future, so even though I have lots of questions myself as well, I am trying to just relax and wait and see what comes up over the next couple of months.

And Jarred recently stated that you can change from brain only to package, or vice versa without loosing your spot in line.

TRUE. Yes i have a few back up plans for what i want if the packages do not change, and like i said I'm just psyched.. I suppose with Christmas here, 3 kids, a wife and a camera addiction, I'm just trying to get everything lined up! =)

OH and I'm trying to keep both my cameras Operating at once, so I'm really liking the 4.7

It definitely changes things up if you are trying to keep two cameras going, and maximize all the factors to work with two units. I'm upgrading from scarlet, still lots to figure out, as I am the kind of person who dissect every option to come up with the most affordable, best working camera for what I need. Good luck with it all. And hopefully some amazing 3rd party module options are coming in the near future to put lots of people at ease who are unsure of what there final kit will look like.
