  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Banding in Red Footage

It's most likely a display issue. I've often seen banding in, say, Photoshop, when it's not really there in the data. I've not seen a straight RGB -> YCbCr transform cause banding, but I have seen the reverse, for display, cause issues.

nope.. was banding on the apple display on the plasma>component and on the grade 1 crt SDI.

was fine out of AE.

want the R3D?

sorry to add. loaded fcp one into AE.. banding was there. Loaded AE render into FCP for playout.. gone. So not a FCP displaying it issue.. if that's what you mean :-/

Though we are talking about a dark shot here of a match head lighting..

I'll always look at an R3D.

What is utterly frustrating with all this is we decode the R3D to a 16bit buffer as best as we can.... From there on out, it's at the "mercy" of everything from codecs, to displays to the operating system etc. etc.

Graeme

Yes, that works for me.
