Working on a network show and Post doesn't want RED raw (though I want to shoot in 8K) so will shoot ,R3D and DnXHD. Post needs to be quick turn around so they don't want Log. The other camera are C300 shooting wide gamut (evidently. It is not quite 709 from what the tech says) so need to figure out if I can "bake in" the 709 like look into the DnXHD proxy while shooting R3D

Thanks

You would need to use Dragon Color/RedGamma settings to achieve that. There is no way to bake in a LUT in camera, though the option would be nice. I don't think it's coming as a feature either based on some responses from the RED team on other threads.

Hello

Be aware of the limitations with DnXHD and Avid.
Spanned 4gb clips.

I use Prores with foolclip (to assemble the spanned clip) that they transcode to DnXHD in Avid.

Test your workflow.

I believe the beta firmwares that support UDF filesystem also remove the 4gb spanning for prores if your mags are formatted UDF.

I've tried the Beta and had a lot of problems with the imports (intermittent sound, intermittent relink, ... ) hope this is going to work in a new FW.

Ah yeah well it's a beta. I found the latest beta much more stable than the previous one, but obviously there may be bugs still. It's always a bit of a tradeoff deciding if new features are worth potential bugs.

Yes if you use Legacy/IPP1 you can just bake your Look A into the prores files. Just don't do it if you are going to be shooting colored lights though...

Can you just set the camera's Look to Dragoncolor1/Redlogfilm and make a custom curve adding some of the contrast back in to match the other cameras? This has worked well for me in the past when I just need quick Prores dailies via external recorder.

Really? That would be a pretty big clusterfuck if you ask me. Had someone ask me the other day about this very thing.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but the preview LUT doesn't come out the SDI/HDMI outputs yet does it?
