I have hard cases (Pelican-style, mostly) for camera, lenses, etc.

For my light kit I have a hard case…

Big stuff (stands, HMIs, etc.) can live on its own on the shelf.

But for loose ends like an extra fresnel, soft box kit, extra bulbs, etc. what do people use as cases for organization and transport? More for organization than protection... I was thinking those canvas bags they have at supermarkets. Put a 650 in there along with a scrim bag. Use them for a bag of gels. Rental houses seem to have hard cases that cost more than the lights themselves or no case at all…

Just wondering how people organize extra gear. Boxes from Home Depot? Trash bins?

I use a lot of those big fluoro bulbs and softboxes for lighting. Being fluoros they are very fragile and like to be kept in thier original polystyrene packaging, which makes them bulky. So I've found that 12 of them fit nicely into a large American Traveller Suitcase, which is sturdy, has wheels, and plenty of pockets for cables etc.

I use these kinoflo interlocking grip cases for some lights/things that need to be really protected.

i also use cheap plastic tubs from Walmart/Target as well.

Most of the soft type cases I use are from Cinebags, Petrol Bags or Cinevate bags. All great, but they tend to be more expensive, but in my opinion, worth every penny and are great travel bags since I do a lot of traveling.
