I new this was going to happen.
A short film I have been planning has finally got a date attached, thanks to the availability of our talent (the brilliant Des Barrit in particular). We are now set to shoot on the weekend of the 26th/27th April. Which is great...
...if Red no. 1896 comes in time.
I'm generally an optimist but it seems unlikely that the man from Fedex will get here by then.
So I'm looking to provide a backup rental plan and wanted to know if anyone here is willing to cut some kind of deal - our budget isn't exactly huge.
I have in mind something along the line of a deposit, either in cash or in kind, followed by a payment - also either in cash or kind - should I need the rental.
For example: I pay £X upfront. If I then need the camera for those two days I then also credit you X days hire of my camera kit once it has arrived in early May (godammit!) - with me as DIT/extra/assistant/babysitter - for when you need that two camera shoot.
Or the whole thing in kind or the whole thing in cash or whatever distribution of anything I can do for you.... you fill in the blanks.
The project is an Adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell Tale Heart: A five minute, silent (except for sound effects and music), period tale of madness and guilt, set during the war in a beautifully dilapidated english country house. And I have got a (free) 4K grade in a Baselight 8 suite, should it interest you to see that.
My Red kit will be fairly middle of the road when I get it: Red LCD & EVF, CF cards, Reddrive, 2 powerpacks, Production Pack plus some extras for top rails etc, Red 18-50mm, Red 50-150mm, Peleng 8mm, Micromattebox (probably), some NDs, some sort of tripod system (still deciding), and a Macbook Pro & Drives etc for onset backup & checking.
I will also have a broadcast capable FCP post station (I'm an editor & compositor mostly) that could be incorporated, with my services, into the deal.
Anyone interested? If you want to be there I can assure you it will be fun too!
PM me.
Hopefully,
Ross.
