  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I was trying to duplicate all my footage to another drive. Most is successful but there is one file that won't copy.
There are 3 .R3D files and 4 .mov files.
Two R3D files are 2 gigs and the 3rd is 123mb. The corrupted one is the 2nd two-gig file (or middle). I can't copy it as if it's a bad file. It stops copying at 440mb. When I watch the .mov files, it locks up at a certain point.

Is there a fix?

Lots of things at play here, but to start, I would attempt to copy to a second device. If that doesn't work, then I'd make an image of the original volume and see if it actually manages to image correctly on any other host volume. If you get errors while imaging, you're probably looking at either media, or some other recording process failure that resulted in file read/write errors. If it copies, then I'd give that image a shot to extract the file. If it still fails after that, then chances are something happened during acquisition (as in recording to media, due to process or hardware failure).

My 2 worthless pennies (adjusted for inflation)...

Good luck!

Where is all your footage? Red Drive? CF Card? External Disc?

What are you using? USB? FIREWIRE? ESATA? NETWORK?
