  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bad news...

Maybe it has been said before in this post, as I only read the first page. May I say that the delay of a few months for me to get my Epic is totally insignificant in comparison to what is happening in Japan and the rest of the world these days. The best part of my day is waking up and taking my first breath of the day so I can remember how fortunate I am. Just my perspective. Thank you Jim, and thanks to all of your wonderful accomplices for a job very well done. It is deeply appreciated by so many.

Don't let your blood pressure rise...You have built Two amazing cameras and changed the industry..As amazing as the RED One is, The Epic is off the charts ! I can't wait to get my Epic, but I will try to be patient if you try to keep your blood pressure down!

While we are all saddened you are sad. People have expressed in many ways in this thread that they appreciate YOU, so with or with out your financials this make you a wealthy man. Just a saddened man when you realize conditions or situations, both those you try to control and those you can't, are going to disapoint people.

You suffer from INTEGRITY! You have contracted it from someone, most likely your parents if not them someone you have admired. There is no cure once infected. Symtoms often include empathy for others over self. Treatment for bouts with integrity is to take a deep breath and say to yourself, God is God and I am Not!

Please take care of yourself. Otherwise I'll have to write another one of these embassing posts. Yeah, I would. So save me the embarassment, please?
 
Jim, just tell the magical wizards that you clearly employ (how else could you come up with a Red One, or Epic. or Scarlet.... Only magic could do that....Clearly....) to clean up Japan! :rolleyes5:

Well, since you're so far ahead of the competition it's not like they're gonna catch up anytime soon. You're still a few k ahead of them.

That`s not enough - they should get corporal pushiment, their Red Ones should be confiscated without being compensated and they should be forced to read the fanboy-posts on reduser the next two years without breaks!

Japanese are the most hardworking people in the world. They'll rebuild their country in no time. And I'm pretty sure to an even better country. Red customers have always been and will always be patient. The rewards from red for the patience are priceless! So I guess there is no need to worry about things like that. This world has never been perfect. And there will always be obstacles, but exactly these things make our life interesting, don't they?
 
What happened in Japan was and is a tragedy for too many, and the delay in Epic production is indeed not comparable to the misery many has to deal with.

Independently of this issue of Epic production, I wonder, are there electronic compenents that are manufactured only in a single company or only in some specific region? Never thought of such issues before the tragedy in Japan.

To answer your question in a general sense, no, unless they are specialized application-specific components or extremely high-grade ones, both of which are key segments of Japan's industrial base and are likely needed for RED cameras. In China and other Asian countries, you generally won't find the same level of quality or variety that you can get from the Japanese industry which is why you will find many computer manufacturers based in Taiwan and elsewhere advertising Japanese components being used in their premium motherboards and products.

Already rumors that these manufacturers will delay products originally scheduled for NAB introduction. We live in a single interconnected world. When part of it is damaged the pain is shared.

The impact of this delay might be different for the Scarlet people and the Epic people. Epic people may have more equipment, more work, and will find interim solutions that are harder for potential Scarlet customers, for whom this is a dream come true and well above what they have been using, may have a harder time finding interim solutions given their more limited budgets and need to set aside money for a complete Scarlet rig.

Ok, I'm in for Red One Stage 3 and can wait for that and I know NAB is coming up with changes and surprises but I wanted to add my name to the list of EPIC M and after holding EPIC M here in Florida when Ketch and Joseph was here I've just gotta put a request in for one...so who should I contact to add my name to the list. Thanks for your consideration in advance.

We still feel that we can deliver all EPIC-X orders by summer's end but it will be "back-end" weighted. April and May will be "light".

Life is short. Put yourself in a position doing what you were meant to do. Expect curveballs. They come. Do your best and take the consequences. I guess I am talking to myself...

I promised to be transparent. Mostly that is a good thing. Tonight I am depressed. But always willing to tell you the straight scoop.

Dear Mr. Jannard,

this is actually the first time that I dare to drop a feedback on your recon.
The reason is twofold:

1. I'm an Expat sitting in tokyo, experiencing the current incidence.
It is an unspeakable disaster and all my thoughts and prayers go to the orphans and missing people and all those suffering from this catastrophe, as well as -like you said- to those who risk their lives for better. Japan is an absolutely fantastic country which will raise like Phoenix even stronger than before. The people here are amazing.
But now it is the time in grief and hope.
Any reasonable customer will appreciate your thoughts.
Me as a negligable junior -without having even earned any stage by now on RED- can only say:
Please be sure that I will await the EPIC until hell freezes !

2. As a physician, quite familar with the treatment and medication of HTN, I have a certain understanding of the incredible challange that you undergo for your "treatment" versus your "work". Both comes with responsibilities, BIG TIME.......and forever.
(Some of the "treatments" you are holding in your arms ...... at home or at work.)
I'm sure you do have fantastic medics around (24/7) who will treat you at their best. And they should advise you when you ask for it.
Private and business- there is people out there who need you, admire you and love you.
As a physician, I'm at your full disposal. Please take care.

I for one totally appreciate the transparency and understand.
I would love to get the same kind of update on SSD's and EVFs. Deposits have been placed and not a lot of information has been forthcoming.
