  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bad Ass

edit...

We have one setup in the corner upstairs that we shoot when we have time. Everyone is running around like mad to get things done. We just haven't had time to even shoot all the possible options, let alone change the setup. We live in a mess because we don't have time to clean up. Our web guy needs about 20 new pics he isn't getting. We are trying to finish the camera and satisfy as many requests as possible. But getting the camera done is mission #1.

I'm sorry if we can't do everything you guys want us to do. It isn't because we are being coy. We just don't have enough manpower to do it all.

Our apologies.

Jim

Can someone clearify if the rod are 19mm or 15mm?
Thanks in advance

We support both. 19mm is RED standard, but we have options for Arri 15mm offset.

Jim

You know what... I'm not the least bit talking to you and I'm sorry if I came off that way. Life is a bitch ; my wife is dying of cancer. I'm just frustrated that I'm always having to see into the dark to see detail on Red because Jarrad likes to make art. All I'm asking is for a fully lit image of the fucking camera, while we are at it, some moving images of the high asa charts. Not that much to ask.

Well then there you have it. First off, you are frustrated and full of it and there is no need to act like that. Since I was the only one discussing the lighting set up you can see how I might misinterpret your frustration over the lighting of the pics. The "Life is a bitch" comment was assinine. But I will do you one better and do so without bullshit or crass sarcasm...

Poi Boy, I am really very sorry about your wife. I wish you nothing but hope/love for you and your family and I will keep you and your wife in my thoughts and prayers. I may just be a southern boy who is a nobody, but I am sincere.

Being or feeling in a place that is bereft of Hope is something that I do not wish on anyone because I lived it. I am sorry if you were offended.

EDIT* Poi, I see your post below, thank you and accepted. I really do wish there was something that we as a community could do for you, I am just deeply sorry my man. Now, I am not going to ask to see your lighting set up ;-) but I do look forward to seeing the beautiful images that you make with your REDS. On the outside chance, if there is anything that I can ever do for you -if I can I will- just ask-- I mean it. Cheers mate-- Andrew

OK I was assinine, it is only a camera. My sincere apology to you Andrew, live long and prosper.

OMG it's beautiful!

That happens to be the EXACT setup I'll purchase, and that O'Connor head is damn smooth, just shot with one once more today.

Thank you for the look into my future magical RED team. :sorcerer:

Poi Boy, I'm very sorry to hear about your wife. I know a few people who were diagnosed with terminal cancer, but managed to beat it. If you would like anymore info please email me .... sam@red4kla.com

Jim, I have been in awe of everything you have accomplished with such a small group. And I understand you can only do so much.

Because many of us have been on this great ride with you since the beginning.... And we have a lot more invested in Red than just Money. We have invested our time, spirit and passion. And being so vested, in our excitement we can loose sight of all the balls you guy's have to juggle.

Thanks for all your efforts.

In the end, I think we all going to miss the excitement and comradeship this development process has generated. Now that the camera's will be here soon...... We can all channel this good energy into the projects will be shooting with our Red's.

BTO, The camera set up look Smokin! I can't wait.

It's not over, it'll never be over. We have 4K projectors and displays to look forward to, not to mention the inevitable camera upgrades. Red are going to go far and this is only the beginning! I don't think this forum and these discussions or the people who make it so informative and entertaining will be going anywhere.

Is this the RED Centerfold?

Is this the RED Centerfold?

I understand about being busy and the limited time they have to do more pictures but it would be great to see it totally complete with EVF, LCD, drive and battery.

If I saw that I may have the big "O".

aloha,

Keith

You know, as smart as we all are, I don't think even we realize the full potential that Jim could have on the industry as a whole. Will he "change everything"? I doubt it. Will have have one of the largest impacts on the equipment side of hollywood in the last decade? I believe he will.

Think about this: Kids in college will be able to practice and learn on the SAME camera they will use as pros years later.. Think of the amazing experience and hours they will bring to the table.

We're nearing the end of July, photos are showing up on this site almost daily. Jim and Co are clearly happy with the progress and playing with the camera like crazy. They are throwing them in the hands of directors and camerapeople like there's no tomorrow, and the reactions are WONDERFUL.

The final hurdle, IMHO will be support on the back end. Given that the cameras are already putting in some hours out there with no apparent problems, I would say that part is cool. Now all he needs are enough replacement parts and the ability to get them onto the sets quickly and he will have it.

I have so enjoyed watching all this happen. It's been a lot of fun.

Jay

Great shot, thank you.

Can we use the shot for rental catalogue/web?

We are still in the complicated situation of preparing our 2008 rental catalogue and i have a certain product, in high demand, i am not able to shoot a product photo of....

All I do is talk about the RED in front of family and friends. They're beginning to think I need serious help. I keep giving them the same story. "Just wait until I get it"

...getting the camera done is mission #1.

Definitely...as it should be. RED Team is focused down onto that core mission, and as Larry the Cable Guy might say: "Git 'er done!"

RED Team has done an amazing amount of work in a comparatively short period of time for multiple R&D and development this complex. Thanks for all your hard work RED Team. The results speak for themselves...

Bad Ass setup rocks for sure!

Wow, this is exactly the setup I was hoping for.
The rails are much tighter and more usefull than the ones we have seen at the NAB.
I think its pretty close to perfekt.

Maybe the top handles could be a bit more flexible.
But I know, we haven't seen anything yet.

Great, great job. I'm realy stoked.

Thanks

Tim

Tim

remember, the top handles can be put on sideways, upside down, offset left and right. You will notice on this photo, the bottom handles, they can be put anywhere on the top rails as well, either inline or offset.
