Hello Everybody,

after checking this board from time to time for advice and tips, I finally have my first question which I couldn't find an answer to via the search option.

I am shooting a short on the RED MX and it looks like I have to backup on a WDMyBook Studio II which is mac-formatted by using a Windows Laptop because my DIT has no Macbook (poor guy)

He has MacDrive installed and will load the files on his laptop, check them and then copy them to the external drive. During post they will be edited on a Mac using FCP.

I am pretty sure, that this should not be a problem at all, because the file stays the same, doesn't it? Is there anybody who has worked with this workflow before? We might also have to use a macbook to backup (with USB 2 only an MacOS X) for the first two days, because the DIT is still in another production.

Am I producing a mess here or am I safe?

I vote for safe! What you say?

Thanks

Eugene

MacDrive works just fine. It's prudent to check the files once copied before deleting the original location's copy, if need be with MD5 checksum programs, but MacDrive shouldn't be the cause of any heartache.
