Backorder Update...

what about the red touch 5" lcd??? is it in backorder?

Don't think so... They're shipping out with EPIC-X cameras (just received one today). And with no REDMOTES or Side Handles to ship at the moment, it's the only way to operate the camera.

Thanks for the update Jarred. I really don't mean to sound negative but will you guys be able to keep up with accessories demand with more and more Epics being shipped and soon Scarlets? Back in the days of the RED One, a lot of accessories where on back order for a long time and it was quite frustrating at times getting some of them in a timely matter. Are we going to be facing the same issues with the Epic accessories or does RED have a plan to alleviate the constant back order dilemma?

Thanks for everything!

I guess it wouldn't be too hard for me to find a volunteer to test out the quad battery module for a week would I ?

I'll volunteer. (And since y'all misplaced my "X" allocation, you sorta owe me... :-)

(of course I know that the whole stage 2 deal means that you really owe me nothing. ever. but still...)

buying more machines. getting more rockstars to run them. Hard to compare the DSMC stuff to the old R1 accessories as the DSMC accessories are all CNC machined and the old stuff was cast with long periods of waiting for molds and constant revisions. ... plus we had no idea what we were doing :)

Sounds like you guys are poised to bring both technological innovation and manufacturing jobs back to American shores in a big way. Bring on Nov. 3rd, and new machines for those rockstars!

The new stuff certainly looks great.

shooting opal creek and 1000 year old trees in a rain forest- steam baths - etc etc ;) willamette national forest

Makes me miss Oregon all over again... Lived there for four years a hundred years ago... :) Fond memories of backpacking (the real kind) in the Olympic National Forest. Phenomenally beautiful.

The quality on EPIC AKS are fabulous compared to the R1 stuff. I'm getting my X tomorrow (WHOO HOO!) but still need the Assault plate pack to complete a hand held rig for a shoot on 10/22/23. I'm sitting here with 3 QR systems and a bunch of other stuff, but that lovely little 15mm lightweight plate is the missing link. I'll have to come up with something else in the meantime I guess but I figured I would have had it by now (ordered back in August).

There are a couple of other items I'd love to see hit the store. Here's a thread I posted a few days ago that got 0 replies ;(

Can we get those into the hopper as well?

The other BIG item that everyone is or will be suffering pain over is the Pro I/O module. I would bet that nearly every EPIC owner will want one. The camera, while it's great that it can run in a very small form factor, needs the Pro I/O module to be a complete camera. When it comes to some pretty basic stuff like running the LCD and Bomb EVF at the same time (so my AC and DP are both happy), or configuring the camera with FIZ controls and motors, it gets really challenging to find places to mount things, and to deal with limited I/O.

PLEASE at least (if you can) post the specs and physical dimensions like you did on the EPIC so we can have ATA cases made in advance of its arrival. And of course if you could announce at least approximate ship dates, that would be great. Otherwise, a lot of guys are going to be forced to buy 3rd party products that (IMHO) won't likely be as nice as what you guys come out with. To me the Pro I/O is far more important than a battery module. I can run the camera of a RED Brick now. But it's a PIA to deal with the limited connectors in the current position they are on the brain.

Holy shit! the Quad Pro Battery Module that comes
With Epic - X arrives tomorrow. I also just signed an NDA with Red so
will defer to them as to what I can legally post from what we document. Please remember it is a prototype and we have
prepared accordingly. We hope it comes out clean but this ASIC is insane complicated...
2 years from now (8 quarters) i trust it will be insanely amazing that our same cameras have become
Insanely stable and easy to rock...

Meantime - lets all think positIve about our test in the Emerald Rainforests
Of the pacific NW (exhales huge bong hit :) JK! )

Jims incredible vision - Jarred and Brents relentless persistence and Graeme and Deanan's wavelet Magic - Kelly and her baby- all make this so exciting.

Thanks again guys for all you do

I ordered the Canon mount right away, but Ryan left, and nobody let me know about the deliveries and what not. I have a non-malignant tumor in my head, it would be nice to get a call if your bomb-squad member leaves. I am an NYU Grad Film student from Denmark who is not pretentious - at all - but I went into the tank for this gear and a call now and again would be nice. I know things are moving fast and growing quickly - a call would be appreciated. I was asking about the new heat-sink for some time before Ryan left and he said he would get some info for me, nada. Red is the most exciting company since apple took over our worlds. I wanna be a part of it - the future exists in these cameras.

They Charge quick.. and all at the same time :)

Any rough idea when it becomes available and around which price tag?

May stop ordering a second charger in favor of this one.

Axel

Quad Charger is end of November/ start of December. $490. The Quad Charger charges all 4 REDVOLTs from empty to full (at the same) time in 2 hours. On average the travel charger takes about 2.5 hours to charge a single REDVOLT.
