  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Backorder Update - November 8

I think this is done whether they post it or not.

All I'm saying is when Jarred gets this information, he could post it in a "no reply" thread so those of us waiting can adjust to the new reality.

You may be right and my assumption on why they are not doing so is to protect their supply chain trade secrets which competitors may be able to unearth if they had this kind of detailed data. I do agree on RED posting all (and any) updates from them in a NO REPLY thread. I've asked for this elsewhere as well. It makes it hard to scroll through tons of posts (and across threads/forums) to unearth their final word, which is all that I care about.

Seriously. When am I going to get that piece that the team is only just discussing the possibility of over coffee that I didn't even know I needed? I need it now!

Nothing like some dry humor to jumpstart a monday! Thanks for the good laugh. ;)

My thoughts are that simply saying something to the effect of "A problem has arisen with the supply of rubber grips for the DSMC side handle" (which Jarred has already posted, BTW) is not going to reveal too much. Just posting that much information with an additional "It looks like shipments will be delayed a couple more weeks." to go along with it tells those of us waiting, a lot. Then we know not to promise a handheld shoot if that was going to be our main mode of powering our camera.

No one's asking for detailed information of why, just what and when.

Totally agree with you. We don't care about the fact that things are late as much as we care about passing expected dates with no communication. If there is a problem giving updates, and dates are missed so often, then a simple option of projecting much further out or updating us will solve the problem. It's not about knowing everything about RED's business and logistics, or proprietary information, but if dates are missed and customers are expecting something, it is just good business to jump in and explain things.

Anyhow, what I seem not to understand is how I have an order with some things that have been in stock that haven't even shipped yet. I don't know how I'm supposed to get my Scarlet by Christmas if it has taken two weeks to process an order for a REDmag Station that hasn't even shipped yet.

I've been wondering why my in stock items have not shipped. I have been over and over this with my bomb squad rep with no resolve other than a continued response that they are now on a 7-10 day processing cycle... Seems much longer than that though as I ordered on the 3rd ha.

We shall see

Yeah, to be honest I can't use the SSD reader until I have footage on my SSD which can't happen until I get my Scarlet, but I just don't understand how some things can take this long for "in stock" items. I am not real worried, but I have no idea how Jarred's response to the fact that we would receive our Scarlet Xs by Christmas (those of us who bought on Nov 3 anyway) can happen if it takes weeks to get something so simple out the door. I haven't even gotten my shipping notification on this stuff yet.

I'll try and reserve myself from commenting to much about a moot point, but I've got my fingers crossed. Anyway, I do appreciate the updates lately regardless of backorder.

Don't put words in my mouth... I didn't say everyone gets Scarlets by Christmas. Anyone that put their order in the first hour has a pretty good chance.

I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth, nor am I holding anything to that statement you replied to as a promise or definite. I'm sure you remember the comment about someone asking if they would have a "very merry christmas" and you made a response. My order was the same evening around the same time so I'm guesstimating I'm in that ballpark with him. Again not holding anything or anyone to that so I'm sorry if that was confusing and definitely didn't mean to come off that way.

I guess I was just wasting time and curious how it would even be possible based on things of mine that haven't even shipped? I do have faith however and will be anxiously waiting here on the forum lurking until then.

On another note, I ordered my 5inch Touch LCD (can't use yet obviously) but this is the finest machined LCD I've ever seen and the thing is built like a tank. That was ordered Nov 3rd and shipped along side my 64 SSD a few days later. First real product from RED and this thing is masterfully designed and extremely well machined. My small HD is nice but this touch is a work of art.

I did, 22 minutes after the store was up, but mine is Ti Canon. I will still continue to hope for a very RED Christmas :)

Oh well... Stupid me, not hammering the already dead server and waiting a few hours for it to come up again to submit my order
No happy Christmas for me then :-(

I ordered as soon as the site started working for me, maybe within the first two hours. Ordering via RED Europe though, so I didn't expect anything until Feb. Anytime before then would be a pleasant surprise...

First hour as in 7pm - 8pm or first hour of the website being live? e.g. 7:30 - 8:30? :p
