  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

backfocus check!

Get a set of calibrated lenses, pick a wide-angle, put the camera on a tripod facing to some sharp text or chart, say 1m away. Magnify and find focus on the LCD. Check the mark on the lens. If it's 1m, your good.:)

Dont forget to check it with the whole set, not just one lens (Wide angle lenses are the most sensitive to back focus, although they have more depth of field).

There are many ways to do set back focus.
The easiest is to set your back focus to the scales a well-calibrated wide angle lens with long focus throw, like 12mm or 14mm fully opened. I use MP 14mm for this purpose.
Another, method is to use a zoom lens. Open iris, Zoom in, set b/f, Zoom out, fine tune b/f again. Repeat if necessary.
But, the best way is to use NULL Lens or similar specially designed to set b/f.
