  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

B16: DR and latitude test

All you need to do is right click and open in new window.

I was wondering also, is it possible to set the knee so it recovers the highlights ( I assume the red has this function, im just a EX3 user) and so maybe your test would be different and the dynamic range would seem wider. Im curious also if you corrected the N when you equaled everything out and how?
Thanks for the test macgregor

Red does record linear Raw data with a mild compression.

Apart from the compression the signal is untouched, hence no knee. However, it's up to you to develope the Raw data into a visible RGB image and add any kind of curve you like, including a shoulder in the whites wich is close to that what you would call a knee.

Off the Raw files you get the widest possible latitude. It's the beauty of Raw that it's the user who screws up the image and not the camera. You cannot blame Red for bad pictures.
