Hello all you monks fluent in the ways of the RED.

I'm shooting a talking head interview with my Scarlet MX next week. They want two angles, so I'm in need of a second camera. I want to rent something relatively cheap to compliment the MX. I want the sensor to match as closely as possible as a quick turnaround is expected.

I am considering a Sony FS7M2, but personally I find the sensor to feel more magenta than REDs greener MX sensor. Black Magic Pocket is not an option to me as I hate the system and it hates me back.

Any suggestions?

I was going to say that too; another MX is probably cheaper than an FS7m2 pkg.

Second suggestion would've been Pockets though. Too bad you had a falling out, as they match easily enough (and are arguably better in every usable way).

Sadly I've just had pockets not work as they should too many times and I no longer trust them even if the sensor is really good...

The reason I'm thinking about an FS7 is because it's a camera I've used often and I could get one for reasonably cheap through people I've worked with.

sadly I look to be the only person renting out a MX sensor RED in the area...

Years ago I had a GH4 and had good luck pairing that with my BT Scarlet.
Which faired better than other Sony/Canon options.
It also worked perfectly with a RED ONE but of course, that's a given.

I actually sold my GH4 to a friend. So I'll test that out someday. For now I went with the FS7 since it looks more professional with the client on set

Good luck, let us know what your results are with the FS7.

Everything went well! I'm not the one editing it. But it ended up being simple lighting with a white background so matching the skin tones should be easy. Everything outside of the interview setting was shot on the Scarlet only
