The more we use our Scarlets, the more chances we are getting to use the footage. This AX MEN & VIKINGS combo spot has one of our Scarlet shots at :05 (the Ax Men tilt shift portrait, shot on a Hasseblad 150 2.8). A year ago we were only using show footage. Now we are mixing and matching, and clients are totally on board. I know it's only ONE SHOT, and it sounds silly, but our Scarlet promo footage for Ax Men has been used all season. And now it's even making it's way into big image spots like this. The Scarlet rocks.

PS all the POV Go Pro shots were shot on the new 4K gopros. History commissioned that shoot as soon as the new Go Pros were released. They were early adopters (haha).

Nick, what's up, buddy? Who did you cut that with?

Rob Browning!!!! Wasssupp!!! This spot was tag-teamed by a variety of talented folks. You know how it goes.

The turn around was pretty fast though, so I started it off by cutting the music and cards in Media Composer, then all the stylists came in and took the spot to whole other level. That's been my workflow for the past couple of years.

What's going on with you? Where you at?!

Yes, I do know how it goes. Hope all is well with you, my friend. I'm doing well. I've been editing with the New York Giants for quite a while. Years ago I got the hook up through Joe Baron. Dude, I've been out of the loop for so long. I've been working out of the Meadow Lands, so I've kind of disappeared. I need to start saying hello to my friends from my past. I have not seen Joe in a while, either. I'm terrible with keeping in touch with people. That has to change.

So, you are quite the talker on reduser. I've been on since 2009, and I'm not even up to 50 posts. You on the other hand....But that's good. This is a great community. I go by the saying if someone said better than you, why bother. I like to sit back and absorb the knowledge from this site.

I never knew you were such a lens connoisseur. I knew you were passionate about karaoke, but not lenses, LOL.

So, you have scarlets. I have one as well. I will be going to NAB this year, and I'm eager to see what their upgrade path will be.

Anyhow, good to hear from you. Perhaps one day we can hook up with our cameras. Talk to you soon, buddy.

Canon C300. There's an article about it in this months ASC mag.

I read that article, but it wasn't about VIKINGS the TV show. It was about a Vikings movie called "The Darkest Day".

Interesting article though. They shot on Canon L glass (and FD?), and also Tamron and Nikon glass...all stills lenses.

Ah, my bad. Didn't realize Vikings were that popular right now.

Learn something new on Reduser everyday. Nick is king of karaoke. Who knew. :-)

I used to work at a facility years ago called MTI. They had three online rooms and two avid rooms (plus an xpress for loading) that were contracted exclusively to A&E/The History Channel. Early on, I used to work the night shift. I would go into the scheduling department when there was down time and find Nick looking for songs on the internet in preparation for his karaoke sessions. I would give him suggestions as well, LOL.

I see Joe Baron all the time, he's doing GREAT!!

I will be going to NAB this year

And guess what?! Joe will be at NAB too! You guys should connect. I'm sure he'd love it! PM if you need his cell/email.

Haha. Yeah, I still fucking love Karaoke. Sang Karaoke at my wedding! Don't do it enough anymore. We shot our second music video at my favorite Karaoke spot, Trash Bar:

Once upon a time, Trash Bar was my favorite place on earth.

Fuck yeah. Rob you totally got me into vintage 70's rock. Sang that shit out of that stuff. You gave me so many hits!!!

Trash Bar was where it was it...back in the day. The one place where a geek could become King...for a night. Everyone was welcome. You could be terrible and they'd still love you. But if you were great, you'd die and go to heaven. I was hooked.

LOL. Wow, you remember that? Those were fun times, brother. Whoa, Joe is going to be there?!!! I will definitely have to get in touch with him. I have his cell (I assume it's the same). If I have an issue, I'll let you know. Thanks, buddy.
