Awful experience with CineGears products and customer service.

Ill keep this short. My 600M wireless video unit randomly didn’t work one day, so I sent it in for repair. CineGears got the unit and said that it had been tampered with. They claim there was rust inside the unit along with a finger print on the processor.
I told them under no circumstance within the 5 month period which I owned the unit did I, or anyone else, ever open the unit. It’s the truth, undoubtedly. Granted, how could I prove I didn't? CineGears products are manufactured in China by third parties, and they acknowledged this. However, they refused to acknowledge that a technician, a sales rep or similar could have been the culprit.

They refused to acknowledge my stance and left me with two choices - either send in the unit for repair at $400 or TRASH IT. I fought with them over email and phone for several days, when I was given the third option of hiring a private investigator to figure out who tampered with the unit. Seriously? Not worth my time or effort. So, at a loss for how to move forward, I have paid the $400 but I wish to make public my complaint against their warranty policy and business ethics. I also wish to continue to fight the matter legally and will open up a small claims case against them soon.

So in conclusion, don’t trust CineGears products or customer service. They don’t care about the customer and they don’t stand behind their products.

Spend the extra few bucks, buy Teradek, and don’t deal with the hassle of poor company policy and business ethics.

I've yet to hear of a good experience with CineGears, and as such, will personally be staying far, far away from them. Best of luck in recouping your $$$.

I'll say, I have 2 wireless video systems that I love and use on every shoot. Never had to deal with service. To me, the teradeck are constantly problematic and the cinegears system is so much more solid. Anyway, just wanted to chime in with my experience

I have two of their 600-M wireless video systems. Although I'm not using them on every shoot, when I have needed them they seem solid.

They didn’t design or build the wireless video system. They only put their name on it. It’s basically the same company that builds the vaxis wireless system. So thank that company not Cinegear. Only wireless they built was the follow focus which is the worst system you could get. Makes red rock look like a Preston...

Crystal Video builds every wireless video system on this forum AFAIK. The are the OEM supplier...
