  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Avid

interface still looks like windows nt 3.51 infused. its 2011. I hope it took more cues from the things final cut pro 7 and premiere do right. its supposed to be about making editing easier. avid has always been stable , powerful and clunky

In terms of "clunky"... are you talking about the visual style of the buttons or the actual functionality?

Dude, you need to let us know what you think about the Autodesk Smoke and Flame interface style sometime :)

How about the bit in the video:

- where the guy popped a flash drive of footage in some arbitrary format into the computer - and Avid automatically read it and popped it up in a bin?

- or having those Artist Color trackballs control the color correction interface inside the editor... first thing that came to my mind was "Wow, clunky! gimme FCPX's colour board and my Magic Mouse"... not!

- or the stereo convergence manipulation... wow, why would I want to do that inside the editor as a native effect when I could manipulate it via some complex Cineform 3rd party app running simultaneously with Premiere?

Agree that if there was one app that could do what Avid did but in a more shiny way it'd be fun. But seriously, these is fun workflow stuff which I'd like to see in the other apps?

Im disappointed with the Avid GUI. But thats the point make it LOOK harder then it really is to appear professional. I'm glad its somewhat stable...but seriously its 2011 update the interface by 300%
