OK now I have dug myself into a hole :-), 2 problems

I running MC 5 on a MAC (8 core 2,66 Ghz) containing a RED Rocket. I have installed the the Rocket according to AVID Knoledgbase support for rocket and R3D's with AMA is playing back wihtout a problem. When I go to transcode I am getting at least 4 till 5 times real time transcoding. We are connected to a UNITY but I have tested both exporting locally and to the and from the unity all with the same result.

In REDCINE-X this is 1,1 times realtime if not faster to create MXF's. I can then import these into a BIN with AAF and all is fine. But my old method where I import ALE and relink is not working at all. Even merging AAF with ALE is not working I get this error.

"expected sourceMOB edit rate does not match the actual edit rate on the sourceMOB"

I know that the clips (MXF) are OK as I can see them through AAF, but relink and merge is just not working getting the same error everytime. I have also moved the files to another computer and tried to relink and merge also no joy.....

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. I am pretty sure tha tI have tried everything in my retiore

IT IS A 24P project (film not NTSC)

cheers

Marcus

Are you saying this is a 1080p/24 project (no SD NTSC or PAL)?

Michael

So...
You copy the MXF files to the Avid MediaFiles folder
Import the AAFs into a bin and you can see/hear picture and sound

Yes?

Then you highlight all the clips in the bin then do an ALE merge with the proper option set?

And nothing merges?

Michael

correct, I have also tried relinking with a tried and tested method I have used for 12 feature films and 50 + adverts, it usually works even in MC 5.0

cheers

Hi Marcus. Since there are no stupid questions -> You know for sure that the camera project rate was set to 24 fps and not 25 fps? Because that could probably explain the error message.

hi jorgen, no defintely all 24p... very strange.. I even did a test with 25p just in case the camera was set wrong...

Marcus

Marcus;

Can you send me the bin and the ALE file?

michael [at] 24p [com] com

Thanks

I just got the files today due to my Macbook being out for repair. Looking at the elements I received, it seems to be something happening in REDCINE X since the ALE doesn't match the MXF when both are exported out. I will be checking in with RED folks on the issue.

Michael

Did a different test yesterday and exported a quicktime, it seems that even a normal 24p pro-res file also exports in 25p

AMA works fine

Problem solved, it was no problem

Problem solved, it was no problem

I realised the mistake was due to my idiosy, you can by mistake export 24 material to DNX 35 / 1080p 25.....

Even more than once, can someone remove this post
