this is an os x .command file
to get this to work on YOUR os x box you need to do this
open a terminal
type chmod +x
then a space
then drag the avid2color.command into the terminal window.
you have now made yourself the "owner" of that command so it will run! hoorah!
anyway.. it does this
red16 edl got from somewhere

is that ok?
here is the command in full
#! /bin/sh
#this bit displays a message in the terminal window
echo "***********************************************"
echo DRAG YOUR EDL HERE AND PRESS RETURN!!
echo "************************************************"
# this bit gets the edl file path from the terminal
read theedl
#this bit replaces dos carriage returns with proper unix returns.this bit f-cked me up for a bit!
awk '{sub(/\r$/,"")};1' "$theedl" > ~/desktop/awkfix
cat ~/desktop/awkfix|while read line
do
commentline=`echo "$line"|awk '{print $2}'`
mainline=`echo "$line" | awk '/ V / ' |tr -d _ |cut -c 1-13,21- `
echo $mainline >> ~/desktop/jamfix
echo "*" $commentline >> ~/desktop/jamfix
done
rm ~/desktop/awkfix
mv ~/Desktop/jamfix ~/desktop/FIXED.EDL
#this bit kills the terminal process. if you are likely to be running lots of terminal stuff at the same time as this script delete this bit!!
terminalid=`ps -ax | grep -i terminal |awk '{print $1}'`
kill $terminalid
exit
if the rudimentary nature of dragging an edl into a terminal window freaks people out i can give it a gui tomorrow...
cheers
