  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

avid mxf red workflow

jason H what are you asking??

jason H what are you asking??

Hi jason
I'm a little unclear as to what you're asking/wanting...
yes i've used jamfuze to make dnxhd 36 MXF (that's what i wrote it to do)
a few other beta tester guys have used it here also and they tell me it works FOR THEM AND THEIR NEEDS. i don't know what your needs are....
it does it in about 2:1 time on an 8 core mac (if you don't do burn ins)
it makes an ALE which links to those mxf's it makes but 23.98 won't link to sound for some reason 9importing from media tool works in the AVID so go figure....)
An EDL from avid at the end will let you conform from the R3D files in a posh grading system (if it understands more than 8 character tape names in the 3600 edl) otherwise test it and ask at the facility that it's going to. they'll help.
the link on your post is dead and not to jamfuze but to "MTS_fuze" which deals with MTS files (they're from consumer camcorders) so I don't know what you want with that...
anything else you want?
just breathe before you post and then it'll become clearer:laugh:
cheers

MXF Query

MXF Query

Hi Jamie,

Is it possible to join the beta program to test your software - doing some tests with a scratch/RED project and this looks like exactly what I would need to deliver DNXHD36 in MXF format...

Cheers,

Rich

no probs Rich

hey rich I sent you a link on one of those private message type things
I don't know anyone else who is using my stuff for a scratch workflow.
so let me know if it works!!
(please tell me you're testing it BEFORE you need it....!)
anyway if there's something specific you need to make it work let me know. I've done similar things for the Autodesk Smokers in the past!

Hi Jamie,
any chance of being able to try this out for our workflow for Avid.

Thanks
Simon

tryouts

hello Simon (and all)
i'll put up another time limited version of my tech demo up on my site tomorrow.
i'll post here when i've done it. i'm at home now.
Also everyone who emailed me at
jamie@sumners.co.uk
has been forwarded to my boss for inclusion in the testing of the SDK version.
My boss tells me they're aiming to take it to IBC (maybe) if it's ready so the developers now have a deadline (they didn't before and were working on other web based stuff for my company)
So soon I think the sdk version will be available for testing
until then people are welcome to use my version of the program but will have to put up with

a) having to install redline/redalert themselves
b) making lots of intermediate files and then moving the mxf's to the avid mediafiles/mxf/1 folder
c)having no lovely visual feedback window
all the above are sorted in the SDK version so i'm told.

with Metafuze available on the PC side (although that doesn't do the conform side) would anyone be interested in a PC version of Jamfuze? Anyone?

also today i wrote an app to take a sequence from avid and via an EDL render out 1 DPX sequence of the whole thing with the DPX filename numbers matching the timecode of the sequence. It was cool. I have no idea what to do with it though.
I made the DPX sequence into a quicktime via the aja "dpx to qt converter" and compared that to a quicktime i made from the avid sequence and it was spot on.
so now i can cut in the avid at 15:1s and reconform the whole sequence to 4k DPX files and errr there you go.
Obviously no mixes or pictures in pictures/wipes /timewarps.
none of that nonsense!
but for just a straight cuts kind of movie/commercial/project it totally rocks!
tryout available on request...
cheers

Amy updates On this?

Amy updates On this?

This thread is over 3 years old - with tools like updated RedCine X Pro and Resolve to make sync dailies with burn-ins and such that are free, is this still relevant?
