I'm curious if anyone else is dealing with this. When I use FrameFlex to punch into 4K footage, it's definitely not crisp at all... it looks like a regular zoom, not a true 2K downconvert like you'd get from RedCineX. I tried it on the source side as well as in the sequence with the same result.

Have you rendered it with the transcode settings set to FULL/Half good? I wouldn't judge it when it is under AMA only.

I'm totally not seeing where that option is on the transcode (or the effect menu)... under the transcode, just 'apply reformattting option' or 'apply color transformation'.

Also, an oddity, is when I select 'apply reformatting option', it's unpredictableon how/where it'll resize... like, the same size but a higher or lower frame. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. I haven't seen a good tutorial video yet, just the post-NAB 'hype' piece which just shows the features of Frame Flex, now the 'how to'.

Like, in this video...

...they punch in and it's still crisp. Mine definitely just looks like a 'zoom in' and not a 2K version of a 4K file.

Debayer settings are in the Media Creation settings (I know, stupid place). Default is full, but that is only used for transcode and render. Otherwise, Media Composer always uses the the next highest debayer based on project size. For example, for 1080p. it will be a 2K debayer when in green/green mode. This is for playback performance and as mentioned, only will FULL be used when set in settings for transcode and render.
