Greetings,

I am going to go insane here pretty quick. So I just got my Avid Artist Color last night - after a few tweeks I was able to get it setup and running using both Resolve 10 and Red Cine X Pro. I was loving the surface, great respone and so much easier for grading. What surprised me most was how well it worked inside of RCX. But it didn't last... Started up the computer this afternoon, it took me about an hour of restarts and reinstalling the Euphonix software to resolve the networking issues, but now when it connects it sees the panel and gives me a series of dotted rectangular boxes across the display screen. When I boot up RCX or Resolve the boxes which last night, were changed to text (FLUT and so forth) stay and the panel is not seen working in any of the software.

Any help would be great. Latest build of RCX, Resolve 10.1, EUControl 3.1, Firmware 1.18 - My system is a Mac Pro 2.4ghz, 26GB RAM, Quadro 4000 Mac, Decklink Mini Monitor. Avid Artist Color connected directly to the Mac Pro via Port 2 GB ethernet port.

Thanks again

Tom Chase

I've had much better luck with Eucon 2.7 that 3.x It's really been rock solid for me.

But I did, if I recall, have to plug the panel into Ethernet 1. I don't remember why. It may have been to do with Eucon 2.7. But I will say it's been rock solid for me since I got it working at the start.

Thanks guys, I rolled back to 2.7 and it seems to work. Really expected more from Avid - cruising the forums seeing now that there's a ton of issues with this panel. Just can't afford to purchase the Elements. Though when it works I love it - couldn't imagine grading without a control surface ever again.

Not sure what you mean by ton of issues. I'm coming up on 3 years of using MC Color with Resolve, never any connection issues. Yes, MC Color likes to be connected to ETH 1. If you connected it through the router, then it doesn't matter which port you use. You need to make sure, that you get a good panel connect upon starting the computer after the restart. If you don't get a solid connection and you try to start Resolve it will never work and the only way to fix that is to restart the computer. EU Control 3.0.1. Rock solid.
BTW, I had Elements panel installed, but I preferred MC Color, so I returned the Elements and got another MC Color. Never looked back…

I've found the Avid Panel / MC Color to be like a pesky feline. Just give it what it wants and it will cooperate with you. I make sure everything is plugged in and the board ON first before firing up the system. Then allow the Euphonix to connect FIRST before I open any applications. You'll see the spinning icon for a bit then fire up the apps. If I follow this I rarely have issues and I travel with mine between towers and rMBP's.
