Hey guys,

So I have to pull a bunch of shots for VFX from Avid to After Effects. We are cutting with DNX36 mxf files so I have been exporting EDLs into RED Cine X and then relinking that EDL back to the RED footage. Once I have the relinked sequence in RED Cine X, how do I export that sequence for use in AE? Can RCX spit out an AAF or XML? Can AE just use an EDL to connect to the RED footage? Has anyone had a similar workflow to this?

Thanks!
Will

You should be able to use the same EDL that was used to send to RXC. If you want layers and such to be represented, then you're better off with an AAF - it will have to go through Premiere Pro first for the conform, then a send to AE from there as I don't think AE takes in AAF/EDL directly (willing to be corrected here). I am not a AE user, or a very beginner level of AE - I have been playing more with smoke and it's AAF conform and using it for FX work which is working pretty nicely. If on Windows, there is now an AVX plug-in for Eyeon Fusion directly from the MC timeline. But those are non AE solutions.
