This will vary greatly due to a lot of factors, so asking for an average may be the wrong question. Perhaps an average range?

Specifically to the DPs and DITs on the board, in your experience what would you say is your average range of GB shot per day on a typical commercial spot? with RED? Any difference vs. narrative work, or in working with drives vs. CF cards if any? Oh, and this is assuming single camera. Just curious what other people are witnessing. Thanks.

About 100 gigs a day on average per camera for commercials.

Features really depend on how many setups, whether the camera runs long (some directors like to let it roll).

Yeah around 100 gigabytes per camera per day at RC36 4k 2:1. 4k 16:9 is 30% higher bit rate. I've had 2-camera shoots go 400 gigabytes a day at RC42, though, which is a terabyte a day when you factor in the backup and empty drive space...

Shot 136GB today. Single camera, multiple interviews. That's pretty average for me.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

250-400 per camera per day

last two shoots, aruba and detroit....800+ gigs per day and both were 6 day shoots...holy data batman...

About 1.5TB per day when shooting multi cam Red for live concerts.

Single cam long form, between 23GB-200GB.

These are avarage numbers
TV 2 cameras 250-450 GB per day total
Feature 2 cameras similar 250-500 per day total
Comercial 1 camera 150 - 400 GB per day
Music videos single or multiple cameras. 400-650gb per day
Testimonials shooting this past week. 980GB per day
Concerts 1tb plus

best of luck.

300GB per camera on 3-4 camera shoot of live conference/talk back. We like SANs and LTO4. They are our friends.

For us shooting mid budget stuff single camera, generally RC36 4xHD for 1920 final output:

Short Films - 100-200 GB per day per cam
Commercials: 200-400 GB per day per cam
Action Sports: 200-600GB per day per cam due to high framerates
Docs: 200-600GB per day

As I was expecting, a pretty wide range has been represented here so far. Thanks to everyone for responding. Not all that surprising or out of line with most of what I've seen, maybe perhaps a little more.

I often end up around 100 Gb for an average shooting day, in fact I almost count on it. In the past 2 and a half years I have saved every Gb I ever (personally) shot on my RED, I am up to about 18Tb for my own projects - if you told me that 10 years ago, I would have told you you were kidding!

I see 100 to 150 on average for low budget indie narrative. I would think narrative would generally be less than interview style stuff.

On music videos about 150 Gigs a day - really the higher the budget the faster we end up shooting, to a point. Then as budgets rise higher we have more time for light so less Gigs per day.

On docs B-roll often 250-300 gigs a day, depending on how far away from each other the locations we film are.
