I batched 4tb (or so) of 4k r3d epic files to dnxhd115 23.976, imported it all tried autosyncing based on TC, it made subclips, but when i click to play the subclips I get the above message...I am on avid 8.0 (yes maybe the .0 is the problem)..

Any help to not sync by hand would be appreciated...Last time they didn't use a sync box and it was a nightmare to sync the doc by hand...So this time they supposedly have good TC yet I still cannot make autosync work for me... I am using a single usb3 drive as my media storage and a brand new high end rMBP as my system...thanks guys!!!

the avid forums are funky and I cannot create an account, please help me if you can guys, i'd really appreciate it. they are insane at avid, i'm not paying 200 dollars for a call cuz there program is buggy as hell, thats insanity! I would make the production pay but they feel the same way

The sub clips playback and scrub when put into a timeline I figured out, but they do not work in the source viewer, like AT ALL bro! I only get that above error message, and the editors are not going to be pleased. I may roll back to 7.04 to see if that helps but I am 20 yards from canada on a laptop in a library on location, things are looking bad like usual lol

Will the original picture and audio only ciips play back in the source viewer? It's only when you try to play the .sync clip of the two combined you get this error? Error messages are cryptic, but it mght be hardware I/O related? Try turning off hardware I/O if you have it in the timeline (next to the audio meters) and see if software only mode is happier.

I know the original video plays back fine in the source viewer..I haven't tried the audio but will give that a whirl. I don't have any hardware connected, its just a retina macbook pro and usb3 drive, but will double check that setting to verify if thats the issue. Basically they want the files on Monday and I don't have much time to resolve the issue is the problem, and I can't get anyone on the phone there at all without a support code it seems, which seems kind of shotty since its a cryptic error message and is not a workflow related inquiry at all...I'm going to give your recommendation a whirl and if it doesn't work maybe I'll try rolling back to version 7...I just want to make this work without needing to sync by hand if possible...

Another weird thing I noticed was that when I auto synced the second hard drive files it was grouping videos together that seem unrelated. Like one is a head shot of talent talking, and the video it grouped with it is b roll from outside, so unless both cameras were shooting at once, one with talent and one getting b roll I am not sure why this is happening (when I told it to group I had assumed it was a two camera set up of the interview)... I am going to look at it some more this evening, try your idea, and see if I can resolve the issues...Thanks so much and I will report back!

Let us know. Also make sure that both picture and sound files are both playing off fast drives. 90% of my work is double system and syncing in MC, so this should work.

I dropped the subclips into the timeline and it did a string out for me, but still cant make it work in the source monitor...I am hoping its cuz im using a single disk usb3 solution or a .0 release and that post wont have the issue on their end... the stuff works fine within the timeline is the weird part...

i rolled back to avid 7.04 AND moved to a lacie raid 0 tb2 drive, still same bug...where do i disable the hardware , couldn't figure it out...i dont have any hardware hooked up... im doing software only so i wasn't sure where that setting is...

If you have no I/O hardware attached, you will not see the off/on button which is to the right of the VU meters in the timeline tool bar. What happens if you option/ALT click the synced clip into a pop-up monitor, does that one play without errors?
