Auto white balance way off!!!

A client is currently struggling with this particular issue.
It's funny to see how many people insist that it's something other than the camera. Like the environment, or the operator. But it's obviously not... here's why:
Yesterday the camera (build 17) is fine, it's white balancing fine, DP shoots all day with no issues.
Today, same location as yesterday, it's jacking up to 9000k in order to balance properly.
Yes, it's only metadata, but tell that to all the people standing around wondering why it's so blue.
Has there been any word on this from Red?
