Auto vs. Manual Black Shading for Helium sensor and why?

I watched the RED Tech video and and Nate stated that for Helium sensors manual black shading is best as opposed to auto. Can anyone chime in on why the manual is best for Helium sensors.
 
Way less green in the shadows with manual as opposed to auto
