I've been playing around doing some timelapse with my Scarlet and I thought I'd try using an auto exposure.

Then I started digging around on the forum, the web, and the manual, to see if I could figure out how to do it. I have come across a few hints at auto exposure with the epic/scarlet, but nothing solid. Perhaps I am not looking hard enough. Can someone please tell me how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

There's no way to adjust gain of the sensor; that's the nature of Raw. So all that can be done is adjust aperture. As far as I can tell, lenses with an electronic aperture can be adjusted in 1/3 or 1/4 stops. So it won't be a smoooooooooooth transition over the range of the aperture over the course of the timelapse.

More common solution: use HDRx to get more stops available to you, and then grade it in post.
