Hi,

Currently experiencing issues with my Scarlet-W and after doing some searching I realised that there isn't an authorised RED service centre in Australia, well not listed on red.com for that matter... Is there a possibility of this evenuating in the near future? I only ask as I find the idea of sending my cam back and forth across the globe somewhat daunting. Also having no luck with the emergency technical support on the phone either...

Hi,

I had the same happening before on a new RED. Red will send you everything incl. declaration etc.
Shipping was through UPS super quick and save. The declaration takes care of not having to pay duty on Red's side or your side when you get it back. RED is very professional to take care of all these pitfalls and worries.

cheers,

Stefan

Aaron,

You could also try Dragon Image while not a service Center they are Red's Australian representative. They have offices through Australia but Vince in the Brisbane Office is probably the best informed. Even if they can't sort your problem they can organise the shipping and all the coordination involved in shipping expensive kit across the world

I have not personally experienced any Red related issues where I needed to call on Dragon Image, however a colleague of mine recently had an issue after a firmware update and was forced to send his camera back to Red for repair.
Dragon Image sorted him out with a loan camera to get him out of a jam and he was singing them praises for their customer service in regards to Red. I think that is awesome and I wish they were able to stock products for us.

Yes I agree that would be great to have Mini mags or mounts etc. available to order here in Australia!

Side note but I wish Dragon Image would have a better stock of Red gear as their sole Australian distributor. At the Melbourne store they have zero cameras and just a few accessories. Pretty weak to not have at least a Weapon in store to check out.

This is my point, even if I use Dragon Image to take care of my camera issues, which would comprise of me waisting my time by taking the cam there in the first place, when in reality I could just courier it straight to the states from my front door. Then I'll still be without a DSMC2 cam to continue working plus I'm already out of pocket as a direct result of the camera malfunctioning.
