A few experiences trying out different (decent) microphones and the proper shielded cables:

Monitoring via the headphone jack is delayed. No way to judge the sound of the room.

Occasional loud hum from the the fan as an interference signal. Increases with fan speed.
(Camera battery-powered.)

Occasionally no signal until plugged in and out. And in and out again.

No audio playback.

No way to edit files with audio except in Redcine.

Maybe I just had a bad day. Or my Scarlet for that matter.
In silent mode I just love her.

EDIT: TRIED PREAMP AND NEUMANN KMS 105 ON THE SCARLET IN BALANCED MODE TODAY. BRILLIANT SOUND, NO HUM, JUST AS IT SHOULD BE.

I've been lucky, the wooden camera A-box has solved most of my problems. Clicking, hum, and functionality, all fixed.

I've been lucky by the most part. I have the A-Box too but just last week, I experienced no audio until I unplugged and plugged again. I believe it will be addressed in the next update.

+ 1 Abox solved all my problems... except the one Bob is speaking of. Had it on my scarlet, have yet to check if the epic is the same. Hopefully something that will be fixed soon.

Wish they shot the movie "Drive" with a soundless Scarlet. That movie was best viewed in silent mode - beautiful but oh . . . the dialog and plot line

Thanks guys! So I understand the A box is far superior to ANY cable, even the RED one? Does it eliminate hum and improve headphone monitoring?

Just wanted to ad one more thumbs up for the abox. Have only tested it in one short clip but no hum, clicking sounds.

The phantom adapter by Kortwich (Berlin) is doing fine, but you better protect anything plugged into the Scarlet from any pull.
