Just received my Scarlet today and I have a quick question. Why am I not hearing audio played back? Is there a default setting stopping this from happening?

I'm sure the answer to this question is somewhere on this site, but I'm unable to find it. Thanks!

Thanks, Joseph... But this is the case even after I export from RX. You mean to tell me there is no audio being recorded at all? Thx.

Yikes.. I guess you're saying there is no built in mic. Testing a couple external mics now. Thx

Audio is not recording at all on my camera. I can see the mic, it shows a little green light and levels, but when I drag it into Premiere all I hear is fuzz.

Before you think it's an "ID10T error" ...yes, I have the mic on and powered, and the audio is enabled on the camera. I've even tried with both versions of firmware as well. Any ideas?

Test the footage in RedCineX. Premiere cannot read Epic/Scarlet audio at the moment.

Anyone having issues with RedCine X exporting their audio in a BWF format? So I did some tests today and plugged in a mic to line one. Audio sounds fine in RedCine X but it is just coming out of the left channel. No problem, so I export the BWF file and bring it into Premiere 5.5. Audio is on the left channel and I can't seem to duplicate the track and pan over to the right. (I'm very new to Premiere, just switched a couple of weeks ago because of RED support so I'm still trying to figure it out). So I went back to RedCine X and just checked channel 1 and exported that. Bring it into premiere and the audio is now coming out of both channels but it is sped up. If I slow it down to 50% it seems to be fine. Is this a bug or am I doing something completely wrong? Thanks.

Michael, I'm not a Premiere wizard yet... just switching from FCP 7. But there's an option to bring in mono audio as stereo in the Audio tab under settings.

Okay, I got it to work in RedCine X, I didn't know premiere didn't have audio capabilities yet. However, how can I sync it up in post? Would it be smarter to grade and export the entire clips or just the audio? I'm shooting a 24hr film race this weekend and need at least a scratch track to sync up audio and it needs to be a SPEEDY workflow. Thanks!

Michael,

Yep it seems to be a bug, I'll look into it. In the meantime if you continue to export all channels you should be fine. It only seems to happen when doing less than all channels.

Andrew, I think you're using the wrong cable that's shorting out the contacts. Try a $3 1/8" - 1/8" cable from Radio Shack as they pass straight through. Cables for lapel mics etc. often bridge the contacts to get a mono mic into a stereo consumer camera input, but this shorts the Scarlet input.
