Audio Issues After Update

I updated my Epic MX to firmware 6.3.27 and have noticed two audio issues I'd like to confirm with others. I run an AKG C480B mic via an A-Box on one channel and I always have one of those Olympus thimble mics on the other channel. I normally use these just for scratch or back-up but the levels have always been fine. After updating though both mics have extremely low levels -- they are not usable at all now, even for syncing sound. Also, Mic 1 is now showing up on Ch 2 and Mic 2 is showing up on Ch 1. By that I mean a signal into mic 1 moves the display for ch 2 audio levels and vice versa.

Is anyone else seeing this? I lost two interviews yesterday as a result of the levels issue. It was a remote setting and I had to rely on internal sound. Big mistake on my part.

I too noticed the audio channels backwards and contacted Red Support with the question and reply was:

Red Support, 'This is actually a known firmware bug that we are going to address soon. You are correct, Mic1 is supposed to work through CH1 on the VU meter. Instead, Mic1 and Mic2 are backwards. I know it's a bit confusing, but rest assured we will get this resolved soon.'

So lookout for a fix hopefully in the next update.

I'm more concerned about the gain issue really. It makes the audio unusable for me.

I noticed this as well

swapped channels and low mic levels, this firmware seems more buggy....

I literally rolled back aversion last night because of power cycling issues, seems fixed now. The latest release is buggy

I rolled back to 6.2.63 to correct this and it worked. About a 40dB difference in audio levels with both the balanced and unbalanced inputs. Also the inputs are no longer swapped. If this issue is common to all DSMC1 I am surprised RED has not alerted anyone to this problem. I know not everyone uses the audio but this is a fatal error.

What about build 6.3.17 I didn't hear of any issues...are there any?

I'm going to roll back and lock in at the 6.2.63 since its perfect. not going to update the Epic MX anymore because everything has moved on, I think we get lost in the updates due to everyone focusing on getting the new technologies updated instead of the old. If its not broke don't try to fix it. The Epic MX should be solid and everything working with no bugs. Does anyone know what was a solid firmware update besides 6.2.63 because i want to know what changed. If it was only the menu and nothing else what version was that?

I filed a report with RED support after fixing mine with a rollback. Never heard back from them.

roll back and lock in at the 6.2.63 since its perfect. Many updates came out that was focused more on the new cameras, look at your read me file on the updates and see what applied to the Epic-MX and choose the one that had no issues.

Today's update mentions a fix to the swapped L/R inputs but no mention of the levels issue. I agree it may be time to stop using any new releases. I'm not sure it is perfect but it's not broken either.
