Hi,

Since a couple of days the Red Epic audio input does not work anymore. From one moment to the other it stopped. Wooden camera A-box we use is working fine when tested on other audio devices. I firmware upgraded the Epic. I did a wipe as some people refer to as fixing this problem. Project time base is the same as Frame rate.

What to do??? Shooting a documentary in a couple of days but NOT on the RED I think.

Please advise.

Dolph

Are any pieces of information in the top of your monitor yellow instead of white? Can you upload a phone photo of the screen?

I posted a similar problem yesterday. My inputs still work but the levels are very low. I had just updated firmware though.

Dolph,

It looks like your frame rate and project rate match as the frame rate is white (not yellow) and there's no Varispeed indicator in the lower right corner. So that look okay, but your settings in the audio panel are incorrect for using the A-Box.

Source: Needs to be set to camera/brain
Input Type (blank toggles below "Ch1 & Ch2": Should be set to balanced
Preamp: Should be set using tone from your mixer out or using the reference mic input.

Tanks Hal,

Source is not showing anything when you connect the A-box where it usually did. Same goes for the Input type. Nothing showing.

Interesting. Sounds like the sound board may be having issues. Try plugging a standard mobile phone headset (earbuds style) into one of the mic ports. Does that give you a different result? You should be able to get a signal from a headset like that though I believe source will need to be set to unbalanced and preamp will need to be cranked up. If this works, then it could be something to do with your A-Box and this particular camera.
