I'd like to request a feature be added to RedCine... "WAV" export, so that we can extract audio from a clip.

Would be cool , if we could have a wrapper built in ,

when an external audio recorder with timecode sync is used,

multitracks get synched to r3d ,

this because Ppro and fcp have no real way to sync external audio inside of the application.

something like clipmeister rd

If exporting both audio from R3D clip and sync BWF clip - metadata indicating both sources would be great. As well as tracks... I don't think the BWF chunk will have enough to allow you that and you may need to consider iXML in the future.

We'll definitely need to consider iXML in the future.
The first version of BWF Export is likely to only put out the R3D clips audio.

David

Also it would be nice to have audio included in the output when using "R3D Trim".

Yes Deanan, import from sound field recorders allowing to synch multitrack audio before editing, so r3d files could be imported in fcp and ppro without having to manually sync. Avid MC5 has similar audio sync function, but users of fcp and ppro, edius or other are still not able to automatically sync.

I can't understand after all these years they still have not addressed this issue, but with Red actually listening and following up requests from customers , I'm sure you can solve this..

thx in advance

So actually I'm not asking for an export function to export wav's (which could be handy as well in some cases), but preferrable a solution to get the external audio coming from a field multitrack recorder that supports ixml, being emedded in the r3d folder, so when you import r3d files into ppro or fcp, all audio multitrack files are already in sync and become available on the timeline for editing. From there in ppro or fcp we can chose after editing to export the wavs, omf or aaf files ourselves.

Syncing external audio should be addressed, and you guys co do it first with some kind of implementation of that in RCX

would be a real timesaver and professional help in postworkflow

While RED can help solve a lot of these issues, it is really up to NLE to fully take advantage of the essence and metadata from all sources to give each production the flexibility it needs.

If all you are looking for is a way to auto sync all of your media to externally recorded sound via TC why don't you use Sync-N-Link? If you are looking to work with self contained QTs and not merged clips you would have to batch render all of the files out though.

What would be nice is having the option to:
- Set your in-points on all of your video
- Set your in points on all of your audio
- Auto sync by TC OR by in points
- A new bin or something of the like would then be created showing that you have synced clips or some type of subclips.
- The option to manually sync a file if the TC was completely off would be great to.
- And then most importantly, be able to export out an XML for FCP and CinemaTools for managing the audio metadata for matchback purposes.
- And an ALE for AVid.
Key Point here is to be able to conform your audio down the line while working with self contained QTs in editorial.

Cheers,

THat's just the reason, there is a way of wrapping the files , but why not directly in RCX, storm or another application that is especially made for R3d files.

Off course the NLE's should be able to address this problem by now (it's like nobody needs this or what???)) , but exactly because it seems them to take years before they listen (except Avid), Red could come up with a sollution because they have the clever programmers and it could be an advantage to other camera manufacturers to use the Epic instead of any other system , maby already just because of that... a workflow issue.

I definately want to take advantages from the R3d's raw and nog having to encode to another format. if you want to work with another codec like dnxhd or qt, you could use Avid,
if Red could implement a sollution in RCX , we would be able to use any NLE of choice that supports the r3d's also natively, excluding the audio sync problem
