My RedRay just arrived yesterday. I’ve been experiencing occasional random audio dropouts in both the pre-loaded content and in the downloads that Jarred recently posted. The audio just disappears for 1 or 2 seconds, then comes back. If I immediately replay the same section it’s OK, so the dropout doesn’t seem to be embedded in the file. It doesn't happen a lot, but is anybody else having this issue? I’m using the audio embedded in the HDMI going to the display and its' speakers (I don’t have an audio receiver with HDMI to use the separate Audio HDMI). Something to consider: I bought the cheapest 6’ $15 HDMI cable they had at BestBuy (Dynex HDMI High Speed with Ethernet, 10.2 Gbps, full 1080p HD). Even though it’s rated High Speed, do I need to spend the bucks for a premium Monster or Rocket cable? I just want to make sure there’s no problems with my RedRay.
I don’t have a 4K display yet, but the image looks incredible on my Sony 1080p panel from the down-converted RR HDTV Out. I haven’t noticed any image quality issues other than two instances, but I don’t believe these to be attributable to the RedRay Player. In “Two Legged Rat Bastards” (pre-loaded content) there’s major flicker in a series of cuts between 4:05 and 5:00 that’s always there on replay. They look to me to be a production problem resulting from a conflict between lighting frequency and camera shutter-angle. In the download of “Loom”, there is a glitch around 4:50. It’s a horizontal streak in the lower third which is always there on replay. Can anybody else who has downloaded Loom confirm the same thing? If so, my guess is that it happened during the RRencode, or perhaps a corruption during internet download.
