Audio buzz during recording?

Today was my first time recording audio into my EPIC, which worked fine, except that when I hit record there would be a fast rhythmic digital clicking noise in the background. When I would cut the buzz would disappear. We're hoping the noise is low enough that it can be isolated and crushed, but I'd obviously prefer it not be there to begin with.

Any suggestions or experiences with this issue?

Thanks! :)

What kind of microphone? What kind of connection? Wireless or direct? Was the limiter on? Is it possible the cable is introducing any clicks into the signal?

I'd also be curious if this is related to the lens mount noise mentioned by others in previous threads. As always, a separate sound recorder will avoid these problems.

Is that pin sound on a wireless? Had a similar deal yesterday. Sounded like timecode. We ended up just using a boom single channel. I'm no sound guy, so I was flying blind.

Hey guys! sry for leaving you hangin'! I'm running build 3.0.7. Wired NTG-2, limiter off. It's possible it was the mic or cables, just really weird that it only appeared while recording, and would pulse for the duration of the recording, and then stop as soon as we cut.

As soon as I plug in another mic, I'll let you guys know what happens.

Put a little cellotape over de lensconnectors in your pl mount. Your problem solved untill Red solves it. They are working on it.

Have had the same issue. Sounds just like Time code bleed. Power cycling the camera a few times made it go away for a while. Very annoying.

Get this with mic by itself, using a mixer and using a wireless receiver. Happens on both channels.

running build 3.2.8 which got rid of the big pops we had in audio.

I was having big problems with this at a shoot today (running latest firmware and using an Azden wireless mic) and stumbled upon this and another thread discussing it... with no apparent solution. Anyhow, I was able to get rid of it by simply choosing the Balanced / 48 Volt option under the "Audio Channels" menu. Hope that helps, incase anyone is still having issues with this.
