  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Attaching V-Mount Battery Plates to Rails

Any more suggestions on what mount I can use to have the battery lie flat on the rods? Similar to this...

But on rods instead of a shoulder pad.

You would need bottom rails - either with a riser+baseplate for 19mm or studio 15mm, or riser+adapter for lightweight 15mm. Then get a universal mount for the rod size of your choice (or speedy clamp(s)), and boom.

Like this (excuse the crudeness of the photo):

Yes, just like that! I have a 19mm bottom rail system. What universal mount and battery mount are you using?

Thanks! :)

Well, this particular setup is with the Red battery plate (discontinued) and a 15mm speedy clamp, though there's no reason you couldn't use a 19mm speedy clamp and another battery plate like the one at Wooden Camera: http://www.woodencamera.com/qb-switronix-v-mount

I'm sure others can chime in about battery plate choice, though.

I see. Sorry if this is a silly question, but does the battery plate have threaded holes on the back that you screw the speedy clamps into? Also, are these the speedy clamps you're referring to or is "speedy clamp" just a general term to describe these style of rod clamps?

You know, it's actually not that silly. Truth is, I've never disassembled that DP's battery plate to see how the clamp is attached - just never crossed my mind to do so. He does use the ET clamp - I'm not sure about any other manufacturers making rod clamps like this. I'm gonna defer to brighter (more experienced) minds on this one.

Okay. Thank you very much for the photos and information though. It was very helpful. =)

To use the ET SpeedyClamp you need the ET Aluminum Battery Interface plate. It has a non-threaded hole with a recessed notch specifically for the SpeedyClamp to keep it from spinning.

I also use this same setup and have the plate lay flat across the bottom rails.

Thank you. That helps. :)

I have mine set up like this with the CinemaOxide battery plate and it works great:

Thanks for the link Jason, but I'm actually looking for a way to attach the battery to rails.
