I'm working on a bid for a shoot and somehow I started building the Atom rig in Sketchup. Nerd. I've only seen one a while back. Using photos and eyeballing it. Work in progress...

Different tools for different applications. SketchUp is a very fast & easy tool (minimal learning curve) that helps you explore ideas. It even supports all RED ONE frame aspect ratios! :D

You can just have fun with it. Not everything is about money!

Solid works is not really an option for me now. I mostly create art related projects and plan shoots with it (I tested and prodded the Google guys when they were fixing their Advanced Camera Tools). I don't build things...yet. Incidentally, I do get paid for Sketchup work when it's needed. If anyone wants to trade a SW seat for my old version of Maya I bought 4 years ago, I wouldn't complain (though I love my Maya).
